Construction Crew Leader

AmeriCorps National members serve the community in direct service and capacity building activities.
What will you do?
The construction crew leader plays an integral part in building and repairing homes. Lead groups of skills and unskilled volunteers and homeowner families in construction activities while maintaining a safe, efficient work environment, thus, developing and enhancing your volunteer management and construction skills.

• Typically serve Tuesday - Saturday on the build site.
• Assist with all aspects of hands-on construction tasks including, but not limited to, demolition, site prep, framing, insulation, drywall, flooring, roofing, finish carpentry and landscaping.
• Projects may include new construction, rehabilitation, critical home repair and weatherization projects.
• Lead small groups of volunteers and facilitate safe and positive experiences for everyone working on site.
• Maintain site safety by adhering to Habitat construction safety policies, modeling best practices and guidelines, volunteer education and site monitoring.

• Activities and attractions: HFH Teton is close to National Parks such as Jackson Hole, Grand Teton, Yellowstone, and Glacier national park - they are all in a day drive from the site location, and are filled with camping, hikes, tours and more! There are free hikes throughout the Jackson hole region as well - two hikes are within walking distance from the assigned housing, with one of the hikes including mountain biking. With Jackson WY being a town that many people visit, there are free activities throughout the year - festivals, concerts, farmer markets, and much more. Jackson WY is also known for the skiing/snowboard culture - we have three resorts within a short drive, with one just being a few streets over from housing called Snow King.
• Unique projects: Construction crew leaders will experience how our Habitat seeks to establish community focus builds. Our partnership with the Town and County of Jackson Wy, allows us to build small communities within a larger one. With the amount of land given, members will be able to see greenspaces, walkable paths, and community gardens be added to our builds. During the service term, members will be able to participate in a homeowner's dedication at our current project. The members will be able to participate in our annual fundraising event in June, work closely with the local Latino population, and help the volunteer manager with special events.
